U.S.M.C. WWI Reproduction Dog Tags.

Used by the United States Marine Corps World War One, these circular tags first came into use with the Corps in 1917 while attached to the U.S. Army's Second Division of the AEF in France.

These were the tags used by Marines serving under U.S. Army command, while the P1917 was used by the U.S. Navy and seagoing Marines (Marines serving on ships) during World War One and the between wars period. Information on was hand stamped using a brass hammer and letter die set. Each letter was hand stamped into the tags.

These are machine made replicas of the original blanks. USMC is pre-stamped into each tag, just like the originals.

Sets of two tags were worn on a white cotton cord or worn on a boot lace or leather cord.

Custom printed (marked) dog tags contain the following information:

• Your last name (First name, middle initial and last name);
• Rank (abbriviation was often used), often omitted by 1918;
• Date of Enlistment (Month, day and year); &
• On the reverse side -- Your serial number (Marines under Army command were given Army serial numbers);

These tags come in sets of two individual tags. I have obtained an original complete pre-WWI marking kit to mark these tags. This is a time-consuming, labor intensive process and priced accordingly. Each marked tag will vary somewhat from the next. See examples of original tags below.

REPRODUCTION WWI U.S. ARMY M1910 DOG TAGS -- IN STOCK

Information on them was hand stamped using a brass hammer and letter die set. Each letter was hand stamped into the tags.
